CAS118766 - A Leading US Sporting Goods Retailer Scores with SUSE Manager

Session Speakers
Session Description

"Three years ago, a leading US sporting good retailer first implemented SUSE Manager 2.1 to manage the patching process on their approximately 200 SLE-based systems. Since then, they have made use of SUSE Manager’s auditing, reporting, and provisioning capabilities. And they have also migrated to SUSE Manager 3. In addition, a leading US sporting good retailer has been gradually utilizing SUSE Manager's built-in configuration abilities to lessen the extensive role of Puppet and the administrative resources that it requires. Among the topics we will cover are a description of the implementation at a leading US sporting good retailer, a comparison between SUSE Manager functions and specific Puppet features, Advanced Patch Lifecycle Management and change propagation, upgrading from SUSE Manager 2.1, and utilization of SUSE Manager's security-related facilities."
